Scholarship Description:
We will be offering two $1,000 Clark-Foster Scholarships and two $500 NWTA Scholarships. The Clark-Foster Scholarships will be given to a son/daughter, grandchild, niece/nephew or brother/sister of a dues paying union member. The NWTA Scholarship will be awarded to two graduating students from NW. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to these scholarships. Anyone interested in making a tax deductible contribution to the NWTA Scholarship Fund, please contact Mary at #3105. 2024 Scholarship Winners! Allison Gedeon and Christopher Desiderio are the Clark-Foster Scholarship winners. Allison will be attending Duquesne University majoring in Business with a concentration in Sales and Sports Marketing. Christopher will be attending Geneseo and majoring in Physics and plans on being a commercial pilot. Trevor Collins and Michellynn Schroeder are the NWTA Scholarship winners. Trevor will be attending SUNY Niagara and studying Computer Science and Michellyn will be attending UB studying Biology. Seth Printup, the winner of the NWTA Scholarship for a student Connected to the Haudenosaunee Community, will be attending Cedarville University to study Engineering. Mariah Moll, the winner of the NWTA Scholarship for an Enrolled Tuscarora Student will attend Syracuse University and plans to study Math/English Adolescent Education. We appreciate your support so we can continue offering these union scholarships. 2023 Scholarship Winners! The two winners of the Clark-Foster Scholarship are: Emily Mielcarek and Lenora Mercurio The two winners of the NWTA Scholarship are: Jessica Wikander and Julia Haseley 2022 Scholarship Winners! Franklin Merlo, Cassidy Ohol, Sarah Wikander, and Nicolette Faller. Franklin Merlo and Cassidy Ohol are the Clark-Foster Scholarship winners. Franklin will be attending the University at Buffalo studying Mechanical Engineering with plans on designing amusement park rides. Cassidy will be attending RIT majoring in Museum Studies with plans an becoming a museum curator. Out two NWTA Scholarship winners are Sarah Wikander and Nicolette Faller. Sarah will be attending St. John Fisher College majoring in Inclusive Childhood Education. Nicolette will be attending Geneseo and majoring in Psychology. Please join us in congratulating these outstanding students. All our scholarship candidates were exceptional and articulate! Thank you to all union members who contribute to the NWTA scholarship fund. Without your generosity, we would not be able to offer these four scholarships every year!! 2021 Winners! Eloise Buth and Daniel Pyskaty won the Clark Foster Scholarship. Eloise will be attending Plymouth State University and studying English. Daniel will be attending the University of Rochester and studying Linguistics and ESL. Alexia Philippone and Kaylee Miller won the NWTA Scholarship. Alexis will be attending William and Mary and studying Biology. Kaylee will be attending Niagara University and studying Education. 2020 Winners! Madison Ohol, Nathan Szatkowski, Francesca Giaquinto and Allison Dena. Madison Ohol and Nathan Szatkowski won the Clark Foster Scholarship. Madison will attend Niagara University to study Nursing. Nathan will be attend St. John Fisher College to study Sports Management. Francesca Giaquinto and Allison Dena won the NWTA Scholarship. Francesca will be attending SUNY Buffalo State College to study Psychology and minor in Fine Art. Allison will be attending D’Youville College to study Nursing. 2019 Winners! The Niagara Wheatfield Teachers Association (NWTA) is proud to announce their 2019 scholarship winners:Kierston Klidonas, Nicole Guldin, Brianna Walker and Olivia Gonyea. All four students attend Niagara Wheatfield High School and will graduate on June 27, 2019. Brianna Walker and Olivia Gonyea won the Clark- Foster Scholarship. Brianna will be attending the University at Buffalo and studying Neuroscience/Cognitive Science. Olivia will be attending American University and studying Public Health and International Relations. Kierston Klidonas and Nicole Guldin won the NWTA scholarship. Kierston will be attending Notre Dame University and studying Biomedical Science while Nicole will be attending the University at Buffalo studying Engineering. Students were selected for these scholarships from a personal essay, high school transcript and interview. All four students are in the top ten of this year’s graduating class. Congratulations to these outstanding young women! 2018 Winners! Zoe Giandomenico won the NWTA Scholarship. She will be attending UB in September and majoring in Biotechnology. Our second winner, Amanda Waliszewski will be attending the University of Rochester and majoring in Nursing. The Clark-Foster Scholarship winners are Katherine Riederer, daughter of Christine Riederer HS, who will be attending The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music to study Vocal Performance and Music Education. The second Clark-Foster Scholarship goes to John Kraus, son of Jacqueline Kraus from Errick Road, who will be attending SUNY Binghamton where he would like to study Neuroscience. All our candidates were outstanding students and gave excellent interviews. We wish them all the best in college!! 2017 Winners! Congratulations to our winners: Clark-Foster Scholarship awards go to David Pachla and Cierra Mt.Pleasant, NWTA Scholarship awards go to Madison Klidonas and Noah Wrazin. 2016 Winners! Please join me and the scholarship committee in congratulating our 2016 Clark-Foster and NWTA Scholarship winners...Abby McClemont and Claire Hiwiller won the Clark-Foster Scholarship and Sarah Gifford and Madison Lippa won the NWTA Scholarships. All our candidates did an excellent job preparing their applications and interviewing. It is very heartwarming to hear them talk about their supportive families and wonderful teachers that have influenced their lives. Here are our winners future plans: Abby McClemont, daughter of Matt McClemont/HS,will be attending the University of Pittsburgh and will be studying Psychology. Claire Hiwiller, daughter of Glenn Hiwiller/HS, will be attending LeMoyne and studying Math and Engineering. Sarah Gifford will be attending UB and studying Aeorspace Engineering. Madison Lippa, daughter of Holly Failing/ER, will be attending St. John Fisher College to study Pharmacy. Like last year, we gave away four scholarships, but had to reduce the dollar amount for each due to our shrinking scholarship account. The Clark-Foster Scholarships were worth $1,000 each and the NWTA Scholarships were given at $500 each. A special thank you to everyone who contributed to the scholarship fund this year. Thank you. 2015 Winners! Please join me and the scholarship committee in congratulating our 2015 Clark-Foster and NWTA Scholarship winners... Eric Riederer and Maggie Rustowicz won the Clark Foster Scholarship and Fateh Singh and Josh Ranney won the NWTA scholarships. The applicants were excellent and represented themselves and families well. Their respect and fondness for their teachers was evident and their insight into how their families have supported them, influenced them and encouraged them was heartwarming. The scholarship committee is proud to announce the 2014 winners of the Clark-Foster Scholarship and NWTA Scholarships. Megan Breier, daughter of Mary Breier/Errick Road, won the Clark-Foster Scholarship. Megan plans on attending Niagara University and majoring in psychology. Her long term goal is to become a school psychologist. Ayman Mustafa and Leanne Wills each won an NWTA Scholarship. Ayman plans on attending Daemen College and major in physical therapy while Leanne will be attending NCCC and studying business management and sports and construction management. Leanne is the niece of Norm Utech/HS. Please congratulate all three of these scholarship winners. |
